There aren’t a ton of things that really get us THIS EXCITED. Our good friend Jules Davies from Topo Designs shared some visually explosive, print-tastic images with us today that made us jump up and down, literally. It feels like Jules was channeling her inner Dries Von Noten for this “just for fun” editorial and we fully support it.
So how did all of these textiles, colors, prints and layers, not to mention a RANGE pin and Westerlind hat, end up in one place? Enquiring minds (ours) were dying to know, so we just asked Jules.
US: Hey Jules, what is up with these UHMAZING photos?
JULES: I was moving out of my apartment and was struck by the contents of my closet strewn across the bed, a heaping pile of textiles, pattern and color. A collection of things adopted one at a time, the aggregate creating a singular notion of personal style. More is more! Wear it all.
US: Who is the model and where did you shoot this?
JULES: I stumbled upon Anna Taugher on Instagram (duh) and loved her strange grace. It’s similar to the Green Mountain landscape, interesting in its highland androgyny. You could be in Mongolia, Peru or Colorado. This shoot pulls inspiration from nomadic peoples of Tibet, Mongolia and Kazakhstan. On remote, unforgiving land, every piece of fabric you have is critical defense in your battle with the elements.
US: What brands are you working with?
JULES: There’s a gaggle of good folks included in her drowning layers: Topo Designs, Soulmate Socks, Block Shop Textiles and a vintage Lands End vest (a tactile dream).
This editorial is just more fuel for our fire. The Modern Outdoors Woman is so ready for a change in terms of styling, colors, prints and presentation. Why can’t we mix fashion pieces with men’s basics and a few wild patterns? Well, this is proof that we can. There are no rules so get loose ladies.
