Through the Lens: Outdoor Retailer with Meg + Charles

We typically spend the bulk of OUTDOOR RETAILER running around the Salt Palace from appointment to appointment. In the past we have shot upwards of 3,000 photos over the course of the trade show in hopes of capturing every significant product being released for the upcoming season. While incredibly efficient, it also becomes super boring and we end up running frantically from booth to booth without truly enjoying the MAGICAL MOMENTS that Outdoor Retailer provides.

This ORSM, we went with a slightly different approach. You know, since we were busy launching a magazine and everything (#NBD #YAWN). We asked our good friends and RANGE Magazine contributors, Meg Haywood Sullivan and Charles Post, to casually snap some mood and product shots while they cruised the floor. The result? We got to see what OR feels like from another perspective, THROUGH THE LENS of photographers we love and admire.

Meg + Charles say it best:

“OR is a whirlwind. A place where time slips away as one conversation leads to the next, where meetings start and end with a high-five or hug, and where everyone you’ve emailed, followed on social media, talked with on the phone, or never had the good fortune of crossing paths with just so happens to be under the same roof, in the same air-conditioned room, BUZZING WITH CREATIVE ENERGY. Looking back on our experience, it’s clear that OR is a sort of PILGRIMAGE. It’s where folks come out of the wood work with the sole intention of rubbing shoulders with their fellow outdoor community members.”
