EASTPAK 2014 Artist Studio Collection

Tags: , ,

For the fourth year in a row, EASTPAK will soon release its Artist Studio collection for 2014. Using a blank Padded Pak’r® as their canvas, 16 of the biggest names in fashion created one-of-a-kind versions of the classic backpack, including Jean Paul Gaultier, Manolo Blahnik, Henrik Vibskov, MDGM and Christopher Shannon. Designers pretty much had complete creative freedom to do whatever they chose to the bag with the only limitation being that they had to leave the EASTPAK Artist Studio label on the front untouched and visible.

To inject even more creativity into the collection, EASTPAK collaborated with ArtsThread to hold a Wildcard Competition that invited young, upcoming designers to submit their own decorated versions of the Padded Pak’r® to be included in the Artist Studio collection. The bag of Belgian designers Justine de Moriamé and Erika Schillebeeckx of KRJST was one of three chosen by EASTPAK to be voted upon by fans and won the competition.

Beginning at noon on December 1, which is World AIDS Day, backpacks from the 2014 Artist Collection will be auctioned off on EASTPAK’s website and bidding will end at midnight on December 21. All proceeds from the auction will directly support Designers Against Aids, which raises awareness about HIV/AIDS and provides support to people across the globe who have been diagnosed with the disease.
