At RANGE, we recently expressed how stoked we were to visit the new Patagonia Bowery surf store in New York City, and on October 15, we happily attended their grand opening event that also supported the non-profit organization Waves for Water, which works to provide clean water to every community throughout the world that needs it.
Patagonia Surf ambassadors Dan Ross, Mary Osborne, Kim Diggs, and Chris and Dan Malloy were in attendance as well as Top Chef star and surfer Sam Talbot. Guests were able to enjoy catering from everyone’s favorite Bushwick pizza place, Roberta’s, and quench their thirst with Six Point beers and sparkling beverages from Brooklyn Soda Works.
On the lower level of the store, a silent auction to benefit Waves for Water showcased a variety of packages donated by Patagonia ambassadors. Auction packages available for bidding included a signed DVD of Come Hell or High Water by Keith Malloy with a pair of green DaFIN surf fins, rad surf photographs by Gerry Lopez, and a surfboard hand-painted by Kim Diggs and signed by the entire ambassador crew in attendance.
As the night went on, the entire store filled up (and so did the Smilebooth) with New York City’s surf community and a line formed down Bowery of folks eagerly waiting to get into the bash. All in all, Patagonia Bowery had a successful grand opening event and showed its guests a great time on an otherwise mediocre Tuesday night.
