Hands down, the RANGE community is one of the coolest, most creative networks out there. We are consistently blown away by our talented friends and family; the painters and photographers, the sculptors, the metal manipulators, and more. When we started publishing RANGE Magazine a few years ago, we knew our medium would always be evolving, and we definitely wanted to take our ideas off the page and into real life. Typically, when we come up with a kooky idea, it ends up stashed away in the “one day” folder, which by now is filled with concepts that rarely see the light of day. So when Subaru invited us to crack open that folder of inspiration, we knew we had to go big and let them in on one of our favorites, The Open Pass, a wide-ranging group art show showcasing multifaceted creatives in the outdoor industry.
Throughout the ideation and execution process, we were struck by Subaru’s genuine desire to explore unique and unexpected concepts with us. In this modern age of ROI-above-all and “authentic storytelling,” it’s hard to know how far outside the comfort zone you can push a brand, especially when it comes to car culture. And in this refreshing case, it was more of a gentle nudge. We wanted to pair art with Subaru owners’ outdoor inspiration trips, and the brand was fully along for the ride. So cool, right? We learned so much about the type of people (and brands!) we want to collaborate with, and we’re forever grateful to Subaru for being a champion of both the arts and the outdoors while giving us the opportunity to bring this baby to life.
