“Only Nails, Always Different”: John Bisbee’s 30 Years of Nail Art

It’s always inspiring when someone can use their creativity to turn everyday objects into fantastic works of art. This is exactly what artist John Bisbee has done for the past 30 years. While searching for materials for a found-art project in college, Bisbee was rummaging through an abandoned house when he kicked over a bucket of nails. As fate would have it, this would be a turning point in his artistic career. The nails had all been fused together with time, mimicking the shape of the bucket they had been living in. From that experience, Bisbee decided to start working with nails and only nails, which has been his medium of choice since.

He creates amazing geometric sculptures and installations using the hardware by hammering, welding and bending nails together, living by his mantra, “Only nails, always different.” The fact that he’s worked with the same material for decades is really quite awe-inducing. Have a look at his innovative works of art in the gallery below, and get inspired to turn the mundane into the magnificent.
