I just received a package from the good people over at Outlier. In that package was the newest addition to the Outlier portfolio of functional, design-driven pieces…the Ladies Soft Core Vest. Now, this isn’t my first first rodeo when it comes to drooling over Outlier items. I also have a pair of Daily Riding Pants that I obsess over on the regs. The quality of the materials, the thoughtful color harmonies and the innvotive cuts are enough to make anyone go gaga for the line, even if they have never put one foot on a pedal.
I have known Abe and Tyler — founders of the visionary brand — since the very beginning. They were cruising around the sourcing hall at Outdoor Retailer and I spotted them from a mile away. At that time, OR was still super core, and really industry specific, so anyone remotely cool looking really stuck out. So when the Outliers hit the scene, I was like hey, they look like people I would hang out with. And, long story short, we definitely became friends and I still ride hard for the crew (including their photographer extraordinaire Mr. Emiliano Granado).
So, back to the vest…I have been wearing it on standard rides in LA and also traveling around the country with it in tow. The soft core vest has proven to be a worthy partner for a range of climates and conditions, as to be expected since it is made from three layers of highly breathable insulation, including a soft core of knit superfine New Zealand merino, an outer face of virgin wool flannel AND 120 gram Primaloft Infinity insulation. I would highly recommend copping one of these beauties for your honey when they get a new shipment, because of course, in true Outlier fashion, they are already sold out.
