Issue Two of RANGE Magazine will launch in just about two weeks (January 21), and we are busting at the seams trying to keep the articles and artwork a surprise. However, we want to give our online community an in-depth look at the image-maker and adventurer who shot the cover photo for the upcoming issue, Meg Haywood Sullivan.
Christmas is just a day away, Hanukkah has come and gone, and this season we call the holidays is known for being busily filled with laughter, friends, family and beautifully organized chaos. Just like everyone else slaving away making DIY presents and spending hours sifting through store inventories, the #RANGEmag crew has been hard at work this holiday season preparing a gift for all of you, a little gift we call RANGE Magazine Issue Two.
Brian Merriam’s RANGE-sponsored road trip seemed like the perfect way to celebrate our first issue of RANGE Magazine because his photography is so inspired by the magic of the outdoors. With nine days on the road, traveling through four different states out west, Brian was able to capture both highly visited and remote destinations in a new light. We recently caught up with Brian to learn more about his journey:
We crafted the recent issue of RANGE MAGAZINE to represent a playful intersection of CREATIVITY AND THE OUTDOORS. We typically spend the bulk of OUTDOOR RETAILER running around the Salt Palace from appointment to appointment. In the past we have shot upwards of 3,000 photos over the course of the trade show in hopes of capturing every significant product being released for the upcoming season. While incredibly efficient, it also becomes super boring and we end up running frantically from booth to booth without truly enjoying the MAGICAL MOMENTS that Outdoor Retailer provides.
We had a party at Outdoor Retailer and tons of chill people totally showed up. But seriously, we couldn’t be more grateful for the overwhelming amount of love we received at our magazine LAUNCH PARTY, “Tunes, trendz and friendz.”
In case you’ve been camping in the backcountry, RANGE Magazine launched its Summer 2014 issue this past Wednesday. We got an overwhelming amount of support from our friends within the industry and are riding high on positive vibes we received at Outdoor Retailer. We will be posting some outtakes from the issue over the next few weeks, and wanted to share some beautiful images that didn’t make it into the magazine from our centerfold photo essay “SOUTH OF NOWHERE.”
RANGE has been hard at work developing the Summer 2014 issue of RANGE Magazine, which will go live tomorrow, August 6, coinciding with the start of Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. We like to think of the RANGE Magazine Summer 2014 issue as the PERFECT INTERSECTION OF CREATIVITY AND OUTDOOR ADVENTURE. Readers can look forward to authentic editorial content dedicated to DESIGN AND TRENDS, as well as striking photography and engaging illustrations that highlight developments within the active lifestyle industry. We’ll be celebrating the magazine launch and the future of the active, sport and lifestyle markets all week long, so get in where you fit in!
The launch of RANGE Magazine’s Summer 2014 issue is just around the corner, so we thought we’d tease you all with a glimpse of the awesomeness that will come to life on August 6, 2014. One of the articles in the new issue features an inspirational interview with Daniela Perdomo, São Paulo native, current Brooklyn resident, and co-founder of goTenna.
RANGE Magazine is launching August 6, 2014 and the cover will feature PHOTOGRAPHY from Brian Merriam. Brian’s photography tends to focus on landscapes, but there is a SURREAL and MYSTERIOUS undercurrent that sets it apart from traditional outdoor photography. He often uses the theme of “nowhere” to create unique shots.
